Mitsubishi Unveils Renault-Based Eclipse Cross EV for Europe, French Production Set for Late 2025

Alliance leaders met in Douai to reaffirm joint BEV plans that leverage shared platforms to speed Europe-focused models to market.

Overview

  • Mitsubishi confirmed series production at Renault’s ElectriCity plant in Douai, France, with output expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025.
  • The long-range version features an 87 kWh battery targeting about 600 km WLTP, a 160 kW motor, 0–100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and DC fast charging up to 150 kW.
  • A water-cooled battery system, heat pump, and PTC heater support efficiency, while AC charging is available up to 22 kW via a Type 2 connector.
  • Built on the Alliance’s CMF-EV/Ampere platform, the model shares much of its hardware and cabin layout with Renault counterparts but adopts Mitsubishi-specific styling and branding.
  • The cabin uses twin 12.3-inch displays running Google OS with Maps, Play, and Assistant, and the vehicle is backed by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty; broader market availability beyond Europe remains unconfirmed.
