• Troy Dugas, 36, was arrested Thursday in Fort Lauderdale after a days-long search following his mistaken release from the Harris County Jail.
• He was let out around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after staff failed to record his state prison sentence, and the omission was discovered Monday during a transfer review.
• Court records show he received five years in Fort Bend County for family-violence assault and two years in Brazoria County for evading arrest, and he was moved to Harris County on Aug. 14.
• Local charges in Harris County were dismissed in light of the Fort Bend conviction, yet he remained bound for transfer to state custody.
• The U.S. Marshals Service Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force made the arrest with help from the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, and officials say it is the sheriff's office’s second mistaken release this year.
