Missouri Woman Charged After Cooler With Fetal Remains Given to Ex

Investigators are reviewing fetal remains at an Army hospital ahead of a scheduled Oct. 28 preliminary hearing.

Overview

  • Prosecutors in Pulaski County charged Makayla Annette Haedt, 29, with felony first-degree harassment, and she is being held on a $50,000 bond.
  • A probable cause affidavit says Haedt messaged that she had miscarried, then handed the man a taped cooler saying “here’s your kid” before driving away.
  • The man waited roughly one to two hours to open the cooler with a friend, discovered a deceased fetus, and called the sheriff’s office around 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 18.
  • Detectives and the coroner took custody of the remains and transported them to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital for examination.
  • Authorities located Haedt on Lassiter Lane in Waynesville, and the investigation continues as the case proceeds toward the Oct. 28 hearing.
