Missouri Inspectors Red-Tag Mamba Coaster Over Seat-Belt Failures Before Same-Day Reopening

State records show worn seat belts were replaced at the Fire Marshal's direction before the coaster resumed operations.

Overview

  • A Missouri Division of Fire Safety spot inspection on Oct. 30 found more than 20 seat belts or retractors on the Mamba were not locking properly.
  • Inspectors red-tagged the ride, removing it from service until repairs were completed and a reinspection was conducted.
  • Worlds of Fun implemented Fire Marshal–requested modifications, and Six Flags said 18 seat-belt units were replaced out of caution.
  • The DFS re-inspected the coaster that afternoon and approved it to reopen the same night, with all other items rated satisfactory.
  • The inspection followed rider reports on Oct. 11–12 of a seat belt coming undone, while the park emphasizes lap bars are the primary restraint and the April annual inspection showed no issues.
