Missouri High School Teacher Arrested for Sending Explicit Content to Teen Student, Invites Him for Sex

Accused teacher Rikki Lynn Laughlin, charged with six felonies, allegedly sent lewd photos and solicited images from the student via Snapchat, invited him over while her husband was away, and asked him to delete evidence amid rumors; police investigation initiated after school employee tip-off.

  • Missouri high school teacher Rikki Lynn Laughlin has been charged with six felonies, including second-degree attempted statutory rape and possession of child porn, for allegedly sending explicit content to a 16-year-old student.
  • Laughlin allegedly made contact with the student via Snapchat at the start of the school year, sending explicit photos and videos of herself, soliciting images from the student, and propositioned him for sex.
  • When rumors started circulating about their relationship, Laughlin reportedly asked the student to delete the explicit content, warning that she could go to jail; however, the student provided some images to the police during their investigation.
  • The investigation began after an employee from St. James High School where Laughlin was teaching tipped off authorities; Laughlin was subsequently arrested and her bond was set at $100,000.
  • St. James high school district superintendent Tim Webster confirmed that the district is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation, and emphasized that the district does not tolerate law or policy violations and prioritizes the safety and well-being of students.
