Missouri ER Doctor Found Dead from Gunshot in Arkansas Lake Following February Kidnapping

Dr. John Forsyth was an emergency room physician in Missouri who disappeared on May 21 and whose body was found nine days later in Beaver Lake, Arkansas with an apparent gunshot wound.
Forsyth had recently gotten engaged to his girlfriend just three days before vanishing and had finalized his divorce from his ex-wife, who was awarded $19,000 a month in alimony and child support.
Forsyth's half-brother revealed that Forsyth had been kidnapped in February 2022 but did not report it to police out of fear for his safety.
Forsyth's vehicle, possessions, passport, wallet, phones, laptop, and keys were found abandoned at an aquatic center in Cassville, Missouri, where he worked at Mercy Hospital.
Authorities have ruled out suicide but disagree with Forsyth's family's belief that foul play was involved, though the circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown.
