Three families in Mississippi recently discovered that their missing relatives were buried in a county pauper's field without their knowledge.
The deceased individuals include Jonathan David Hankins, Dexter Wade, and Marrio Moore, whose deaths were handled by the Jackson Police Department and Hinds County Coroner's Office.
The families were not notified of their relatives' deaths or burials, despite the authorities having confirmed their identities.
Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, who is representing the families, has called for a federal investigation into the burials.
The Jackson Police Department has since adopted new protocols for death notifications.
