Mississauga Hit-and-Run Arrest: 46-Year-Old Charged in Death of Pedestrian

Police say public-submitted video helped identify the Mini Cooper driver captured removing his rear plate after the crash.

  • Investigators say CCTV showed the driver stop moments later to remove and conceal the rear licence plate before leaving the area.
  • The suspect vehicle was described as a 2014–2018 silver or grey Mini Cooper S four-door with a black roof, unique rims and damage to the front passenger side, hood and windshield.
  • Officers arrested 46-year-old Romany Elhariry of Mississauga on Tuesday and charged him with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.
  • Police say the arrest followed tips and shared video from the public, and the accused is scheduled to appear in court in December.
