- A dispute over a missing mobile phone led to a physical confrontation between Telugu students and students from Manipur and Nagaland at S. K. College of Nursing in Kakinada on Saturday, August 22.
- Kakinada District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad and Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav intervened after the complaint reached the state CMO and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the case.
- As a precaution, 31 students from the Northeast were moved to separate accommodation on the night of the incident and a woman sub-inspector was stationed with them for security.
- One female student sustained a head injury in the clash, received treatment at Government General Hospital in Kakinada, and was later discharged.
- Officials have directed the college to provide on-campus separate housing for Northeast students and will hold further campus talks to monitor safety and prevent renewed tensions.
