Overview
- A 56-year-old Meadow Heights man was allegedly shot during an argument at a Wildwood property and was reportedly placed in the back of a black Mitsubishi Triton before the vehicle drove off on Wednesday night.
- CCTV later recorded the Triton, registration ATS040, at Greenvale service stations shortly before 1am but the victim is not visible in the footage and his condition and location remain unknown.
- A Wildwood man in his mid-50s was arrested by police on Wildwood Road about 5.30am and remains in custody to be interviewed by detectives.
- Fire crews found burnt clothing at a suspicious blaze on Lancefield Road in Sunbury about 4am that police believe is linked to the case and may belong to the arrested man.
- Victoria Police have deployed the Air Wing, Dog Squad and specialist units to search Sunbury and nearby suburbs and are urgently asking residents with CCTV or dashcam footage from Wildwood, Greenvale, Sunbury, Bulla or Oaklands Junction to contact them.
