• Texas Game Wardens said the body of 21-year-old Peyton Hughes was recovered around 7:15 a.m. local time on Friday, Sept. 26.
• Hughes disappeared on Wednesday, Sept. 24 while pre-fishing alone for a Bassmaster Kayak Series event on Toledo Bend Reservoir.
• His travel partner alerted authorities after Hughes failed to arrive at a designated meeting point that day.
• Multiple agencies from Texas and Louisiana, along with volunteer groups including the United Cajun Navy, assisted in the search and confirmation.
• Hughes was a Campbellsville University sophomore on the kayak bass fishing team, and the school canceled volleyball games during the search; officials have not released a cause of death.
