Missing Idaho Teens May Have Returned to FLDS Community in Utah

Authorities are probing whether faith drove the siblings to leave home voluntarily to rejoin the polygamous FLDS community.

Law enforcement officials in Jefferson County, Idaho, issued an AMBER Alert after two teenagers, 13-year-old Allen Larand Fischer and 15-year-old Rachelle Leray Fischer, went missing.

Overview

  • Allen Larand Fischer, 13, and Rachelle Leray Fischer, 15, vanished from Monteview, Idaho, on the evening of June 22 while their mother attended a Bible class.
  • An Amber Alert was issued by Idaho State Police after investigators narrowed the disappearance to between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. but found no confirmed suspect vehicle.
  • The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office believes the siblings may have willingly traveled to Trenton, Utah, based on their longstanding ties to the FLDS faith.
  • Their mother, Elizabeth Roundy, a former FLDS member, fears a 2022 revelation from imprisoned leader Warren Jeffs instructing followers to return ex-members’ children influenced the teens’ departure.
  • The teenagers’ older sister, Elintra Dee Fischer, 18, disappeared under similar circumstances in January 2023 and remains missing, raising concerns over ongoing FLDS involvement.
