Overview
- Maryland DNR Police said the body of Lonnie James Johnson, 65, of Chesapeake Beach was recovered Thursday nearly three weeks after he was reported missing.
- Johnson was reported missing on Nov. 14 after taking his boat out the previous day and failing to return.
- His boat was found unoccupied near Taylors Island in Dorchester County, and police said his body was located in the water near the island’s northwest shoreline.
- A friend said the boat’s engine was running, it was out of gear, and his phone rang unanswered when others reached the vessel, with no obvious signs of foul play.
- Friends described Johnson as a veteran angler with more than 50 years on the Bay and a devoted father, grandfather, and proud veteran.
