Missing 6-Year-Old Girl Found Safe After Three Days in Northern B.C. Forest

The child, who is on the autism spectrum and non-verbal, was discovered near her home after a massive search effort.

  • The girl was reported missing on September 19 in the community of Southside, B.C., near Burns Lake.
  • She was found on Sunday evening around 6 p.m. in a forested area that had already been searched multiple times.
  • The search involved hundreds of volunteers, helicopters, drones, police dogs, and various rescue services.
  • RCMP believe the girl was moving around during the time she was missing, which contributed to the difficulty in locating her.
  • The child was reunited with her family and taken to the hospital for medical evaluation, with temperatures having dipped below 10°C during her time missing.
