Kadance Fredericksen, an 18-year-old Miss Teen USA contestant and senior at Baker School, was killed in a car crash on Monday in Santa Rosa County, Florida.
The collision occurred when Fredericksen’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a tractor-trailer; authorities suspect a mechanical failure may have caused the accident.
Fredericksen was a philanthropist who founded the charity Kada’s Promise, which provided over 14,000 teddy bears and blankets to children in foster care, shelters, and hospitals.
She overcame significant childhood hardships, including homelessness and abuse, and had recently received a $40,000 college scholarship while planning to pursue a veterinary career.
