Overview
- Fifteen projects totaling about 6.1 GW entered ERAS Cycle 2, bringing the fast-track review slate to roughly 11.2 GW, MISO said.
- Gas-fired proposals account for about 4.3 GW, or 70% of Cycle 2, with the rest including about 800 MW of batteries, 580 MW of wind and 475 MW of solar, reflecting developers’ push to serve data-center load on an accelerated timeline.
- Three Cycle 1 projects have executed generator interconnection agreements, and MISO expects the remaining seven Cycle 1 projects to sign this month.
- MISO reports 51 ERAS projects totaling nearly 30 GW accepted or under review, with up to 15 studied each quarter and a program cap of 68 projects before an Aug. 31, 2027 sunset.
- Public interest groups sued last month to overturn FERC’s approval of the MISO and SPP fast-track programs, arguing the process advantages ERAS projects over those in standard queues.
