Overview
- Mirae Asset chairman Park Hyeon-joo told Digital X staff that the group will target 150 trillion won for its digital-asset business and aim for profitability in 2027, a plan presented at an employee event on Wednesday.
- Digital X, the exchange Mirae bought and rebranded from Korbit after paying about 141.4 billion won for a 97.15% stake, will be the core operating platform and received board approval for a 50 billion won capital injection to strengthen its balance sheet.
- The group plans four product pillars — cryptocurrencies, won-denominated stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings — and cited tokenizing assets such as gold, silver and electricity while not disclosing token designs or launch dates.
- Rollout of tokenized securities and any domestic stablecoin issuance depends on South Korea’s detailed rules and infrastructure, including amended laws due to take effect on Feb. 4, 2027, and systems being built by the Korea Securities Depository and Samsung SDS.
- Mirae Asset is using its 1,500 trillion won in client assets as the basis for the target and has cut trading fees on won-denominated pairs through August 24, 2027 to boost activity, but the timing and shape of product launches will be driven by forthcoming regulation and market plumbing.
