Overview

• The Mumbai Fire Brigade declared a Level-I fire at Crawford Market at 2:28 am and fully extinguished it by about 4:00 am.
• Flames were confined to a 15-by-50-foot ground-floor area, damaging electrical wiring, an AC unit, a TV, a CCTV camera, furniture, a false ceiling, and stock including pet food and plastic sheets.
• BMC and fire officials said no casualties were reported at the South Mumbai site, and the cause has not yet been determined.
• IANS reported that residents were evacuated safely and four fire brigade vehicles responded to the Crawford Market incident.
• Separately, a blaze was reported around 8:20 pm Tuesday at MS Auto Company in Thane’s Shilphata area; officials deployed engines and support units, reported no injuries, and said the cause remains under inquiry.
