Minnesota Promotes Danny Collins to Defensive Coordinator

The Gophers reorganize their defensive coaching staff following Corey Hetherman's departure to Miami.

Danny Collins, who has been with the Gophers since 2017, will take over as defensive coordinator while continuing to oversee the safeties.
Collins replaces Corey Hetherman, who left Minnesota after one season to join Miami's coaching staff.
Head coach P.J. Fleck praised Collins as an elite defensive mind with extensive experience coaching and recruiting top talent.
The Gophers also hired former Purdue defensive coordinator Kevin Kane as nickel backs and outside linebackers coach.
Additional promotions include Mariano Sori-Marin to linebackers coach and Dennis Dottin-Carter to rush ends coach.
