Minnesota horticulturist sets new world record with 2,749-pound pumpkin in California contest

Travis Gienger from Minnesota grew a pumpkin weighing 2,749 pounds, setting a new world record.
Gienger won the 50th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off held in Half Moon Bay, California on October 10, 2023.
The previous record was set in 2021 by an Italian grower with a 2,702-pound pumpkin.
Gienger has won the championship three times and grew this pumpkin in his backyard, caring for it daily.
He won $30,000 in prize money and his record-breaking pumpkin will be on display at a festival in Half Moon Bay.
