Minneapolis Police Arrest Trayveion Green in August Mass Shooting Near Cristo Rey High School

Charges followed investigative links from witness dashcam footage to subscriber records for a phone number used by the suspect.

Overview

  • Trayveion Alvin Green, 24, is charged with one count of second-degree murder and six counts of attempted second-degree murder in the Aug. 26 attack.
  • Officers located Green near the 600 block of First Avenue North and took him into custody before he was booked into the Hennepin County Jail.
  • Investigators identified a gray Honda Civic from a witness dashcam, confirmed the plate, and used phone subscriber data to connect the alias “Bino” to Green.
  • Prosecutors say the shooter stepped from a vehicle with a .223 rifle and fired roughly 27 to 30 rounds, killing 35-year-old Gregory Sweeten and injuring six others.
