Minneapolis Officer Fatally Shot in Apparent Ambush

Officer Jamal Mitchell was killed while responding to a double shooting; the suspect and another victim also died.

Officer Jamal Mitchell, 36, was shot and killed by Mustafa Mohamed, 35, during a response to a shooting incident.
Mitchell approached Mohamed to offer help when Mohamed unexpectedly opened fire, incapacitating Mitchell.
Two other officers, Nick Kapinos and Luke Kittock, exchanged gunfire with Mohamed, resulting in Mohamed's death.
Another shooting victim and a firefighter were injured in the incident; one victim later died in an apartment.
Mitchell was a father of three and had been with the Minneapolis Police Department for about 18 months.
