MINI and Deus Ex Machina Unveil Twin JCW One-Offs Ahead of IAA Munich

The collaboration reframes JCW heritage through contrasting EV and ICE themes with artisanal, purpose-built design.

Overview

  • MINI and Deus revealed two one-off John Cooper Works concepts — the electric Skeg and petrol Machina — ahead of their world premiere at IAA Mobility in Munich on September 6.
  • The Skeg, based on the J01 EV, delivers up to 258 hp and uses semi-transparent fiberglass panels to cut roughly 15% of body weight, with surf-inspired details including neoprene seats and fiberglass storage trays.
  • The Machina, based on the F66 JCW, produces about 231 hp and features widened arches, quad rally lamps, a Can-Am-style rear wing, and a stripped cabin with a roll cage and hydraulic handbrake.
  • Both concepts adopt a deliberately mechanical, unpolished aesthetic with functional materials and share a bold white X graphic across the roof.
  • MINI positions the cars as show-only concepts to be displayed September 6–14 at the MINI Pavilion, with a MINI x Deus apparel line launching September 8 before wider sales through Deus channels.
