MINI and Deus Ex Machina Debut Dual JCW One-Offs at IAA Mobility 2025

The concepts explore JCW’s extremes from the surf‑inspired electric Skeg to the rally‑focused Machina ahead of a Sept. 8 capsule release.

Overview

  • The pair was unveiled Sept. 6 at the MINI Pavilion in Munich and will remain on display through Sept. 14 during IAA Mobility 2025.
  • Skeg: an electric JCW J01 rated at 190 kW (258 hp) that retains a 54.2 kWh battery and swaps in semi‑transparent fiberglass panels for about a 15% weight reduction.
  • Machina: a combustion JCW F66 producing 170 kW (231 hp) with widened arches, a roof wing, bonnet‑mounted auxiliary lights, a functional diffuser, an exposed roll cage, 5‑point harnesses, and a hydraulic handbrake.
  • Each car carries a white roof “X” marking the co‑creation, with visual direction by Deus’s Carby Tuckwell and graphics by Matt Willey in collaboration with MINI design lead Holger Hampf and Designworks.
  • MINI and Deus describe both vehicles as one‑off design experiments not bound for production, and a co‑branded apparel capsule launches Sept. 8 via Deus retail and online channels.
