• On May 24 around 10:30 p.m., a Ford Explorer carrying Jose Hernandez lost control on a curve on Farm-to-Market Road 4 in Hood County and collided with a Kia Telluride.
• Hernandez was unrestrained and died at the scene while two fellow seniors from the Explorer and three occupants of the Kia were hospitalized and later reported in stable condition.
• Mineral Wells High School reopened Sunday to provide grief counseling ahead of the May 30 graduation.
