Overview
- Mojang unveiled the Sift at Minecraft Live on Saturday, September 26, and players can visit it first in Minecraft Dungeons II when that game launches on September 29.
- The studio confirmed the Sift will be integrated into Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions in 2027, making it the game’s fourth dimension after the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
- In Dungeons II the Sift is reached through rifts and features distinct biomes such as Meadow and Carapace, unique creatures and environment-specific blocks and rules that change how players explore.
- Mojang also announced immediate vanilla updates including the Ice Caves underground biome, a Frozen Zombie that throws ice balls and new craftable ice items, plus planned post-launch DLC and free updates for Dungeons II.
- The Sift marks a rare, cross-team push from Mojang that could reshape survival and creative play once its mechanics move from Dungeons II into the main game, and further technical and access details will be revealed in the months ahead.
