At the time she wrote the scene, Kaling was 25 and far removed from thoughts of parenthood, but now finds herself relating to the sentiment as a parent.
Kaling joked that she looks forward to her daughters growing older so they can become her 'pals,' echoing Michael Scott's longing for connection.
While discussing her career, Kaling also mentioned her openness to reprising her role as Kelly Kapoor if 'The Office' were ever rebooted, though no such project is currently in development.
