Overview
- Department of Public Works crews harvested the 38-foot Colorado blue spruce at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 5 from the Thabet family’s front yard in Milwaukee’s Morgandale neighborhood.
- The tree now stands near Fiserv Forum in the Deer District, which is branded Cheer District for the holiday season.
- Urban forestry manager Chris Kling said the spruce met the city’s selection criteria despite being smaller than last year’s 64-foot display.
- Local designer David Caruso is volunteering to decorate the tree with thousands of ornaments and lights ahead of the public ceremony.
- The city says sponsors and volunteers cover removal, transport and decoration costs, not taxpayers, with the lighting set for Nov. 21.
