Milei's Mendoza Visit Draws Protests as Police Detain Three Over Anti-President Banner

The president made a tightly controlled, brief street appearance during a campaign swing before the Oct. 26 legislative vote.

Overview

  • The day began with a large banner reading “Milei huevonazo” hung at the Nudo Vial entrance to Mendoza, which police removed before the president arrived.
  • Security cameras identified three men, ages 34 to 38, who were detained at a McDonald's in the terminal and processed at Comisaría 25; two are from Mendoza and one from Río Gallegos.
  • The banner carried the signature of La Neurona Rebelde, an activist collective described in reports as kirchnerista and feminist with origins in San Luis.
  • A strong security operation involving Casa Militar, Gendarmería and police used cordons to separate crowds, and the planned walkabout was cut short with no major incidents reported.
  • Earlier in San Rafael, Milei addressed the ‘Fuerzas Vivas’ luncheon, then in Mendoza city he spoke to supporters by megaphone, urged them to “not let up,” and faced counter-demonstrations by retirees, unions and other groups.
