Overview
- Decree 24/2026, published in the Boletín Oficial and signed by President Javier Milei and Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni, formally convenes Congress for Feb. 2–27.
- During this period, lawmakers may only debate items listed in the annex, and any expansion of the agenda would require a new presidential decision.
- The agenda features a labor modernization bill, a proposal to adjust the glaciers protection regime, consideration of Fernando Adolfo Iglesias for ambassador, and the Mercosur–EU trade agreement.
- The government is targeting passage in one chamber for the labor bill by Feb. 11, while negotiations with provincial governors continue over tax provisions that they say could reduce shared federal revenue.
- The trade pact will be sent by the Executive for an up-or-down vote, and the decree cites constitutional authority under Articles 63 and 99(9) for convening the sessions.
