The design of the medals was revealed in a ceremony in Venice.

Overview

  • Organizers unveiled the official medals on July 15 at Venice’s Palazzo Balbi alongside the Grand Canal, with sporting icons Federica Pellegrini and Francesca Porcellato in attendance.
  • Each award comprises two distinct halves welded together through the Olympic and Paralympic symbols to represent the dual host cities and the collective support behind athletes.
  • Italy’s Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato is leading production with renewable-powered facilities, non-toxic finishes and recycled metals recovered from its own waste.
  • A total of 1,146 medals, each 80 millimeters in diameter and 10 millimeters thick with gold medals weighing 500 grams, will be distributed across 195 Olympic and Paralympic events.
  • Production will continue ahead of a November torch relay and the Games’ opening ceremony on February 6, 2026, marking a key milestone in Milano Cortina’s preparations.
