Overview

  • The Tribunale del Riesame annulled the 31 July custodial order against Coima founder Manfredi Catella following the 20 August hearing.
  • With this ruling, all six people detained on 31 July are now free, as earlier measures for Giancarlo Tancredi, Giuseppe Marinoni and Federico Pella were converted to one-year interdictions and arrests for Andrea Bezziccheri and Alessandro Scandurra were already voided.
  • The judges have not yet disclosed whether the decision reflects a lack of serious indications of guilt or only the absence of current cautelary needs.
  • Prosecutors allege consultancies to landscape commission member Alessandro Scandurra masked bribes linked to the Pirellino project, citing about €138,000 in assignments and a €28,500 invoice that the defense says reflects genuine work.
  • The Milan prosecutor’s office will challenge the Riesame rulings in the Court of Cassation and has also filed a separate appeal seeking arrests on an inducement count tied to alleged pressure on then-commission president Marinoni.
