Overview

  • Entitled “Again and Again,” the mural by aleXsandro Palombo was inaugurated on June 5 on the exterior walls of the Memoriale della Shoah di Milano.
  • It depicts survivors Liliana Segre and Edith Bruck in striped camp uniforms bearing yellow Stars of David, embracing while holding an Israeli flag.
  • Palombo painted the work over the remains of his 2023 Jewish Simpsons mural after six anti-Semitic attacks and left earlier graffiti intact as a form of protest.
  • Within two hours of its unveiling, the new artwork was defaced with anti-Semitic slogans, continuing a pattern of hate at the site.
  • Memorial president Roberto Jarach had previously urged Palombo to restore or expand his earlier mural after prior raids to reinforce art as a response to intolerance.
