Overview
- The keys to the 105,000-square-metre Scalo Romana complex passed on September 30 to the IOC and the Milano Cortina Foundation, which will operate it through March 2026.
- Infrastructure minister Matteo Salvini said about €7–8 million is needed to finish interiors such as the canteen and indicated the government may cover the extra cost.
- Built with prefab components in 30 months and delivered 30 days early, the site comprises six residential blocks with dining, gym and common areas powered in part by solar panels.
- The village will host roughly 1,700 athletes, with accessibility concerns raised over the absence of disabled parking and only a small share of fully accessible bathrooms that Coima says are adaptable.
- After the Games the complex will convert into about 1,700 student beds plus 320 apartments as part of the Scalo Romana redevelopment, with student-housing registration already open for 2026–27.
