Vrabel, who was not retained by the Titans and did not secure an NFL job this hiring cycle, will be involved with the Badgers starting this spring.
The collaboration marks a reunion for Vrabel and Fickell, who were teammates at Ohio State and later coached together at the university.
Vrabel's previous college coaching experience includes a successful stint at Ohio State, where he was named Big Ten Recruiter of the Year in 2012.
Fickell, in his first season as Wisconsin's head coach, led the team to a 7-6 record, expressing enthusiasm about Vrabel's upcoming involvement with the program.
