Mike Vrabel Named Head Coach of New England Patriots

The Patriots turn to former player and experienced coach Mike Vrabel to lead the team after back-to-back last-place finishes in the AFC East.

Mike Vrabel, a former Patriots linebacker and three-time Super Bowl champion, has been hired as the team's 16th head coach on a multi-year deal.
Vrabel brings six years of head coaching experience with the Tennessee Titans, where he compiled a 54-45 record and was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2021.
The Patriots, who have struggled since Bill Belichick's departure, are looking to rebuild with Vrabel, armed with the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft and over $120 million in cap space.
Vrabel's familiarity with the Patriots organization and owner Robert Kraft played a significant role in his hiring, despite interest from other teams like the Jets and Bears.
This marks the third head coach for New England in as many seasons, following the brief and unsuccessful tenure of Jerod Mayo in 2024.
