Mike Tirico to Call Super Bowl, Then Host Olympic Primetime the Same Night

NBC's February plan leans on Maria Taylor plus a deep bench to bridge overlaps across the Super Bowl, Milan-Cortina, NBA All-Star coverage.

Overview

  • On Feb. 8, Tirico will handle his first Super Bowl play-by-play at Levi’s Stadium, then host NBC’s Olympic primetime from Santa Clara after the game.
  • He will skip the Olympic Opening Ceremony on Feb. 6 and the first night of competition to prepare for the NFL broadcast, then fly to Milan the next day to begin on-site hosting on Feb. 10.
  • Maria Taylor will lead the Super Bowl pregame, anchor Olympic primetime on Feb. 7, and shift to late-night hosting from Italy starting Feb. 10.
  • NBC will debut Sunday Night Basketball and Basketball Night in America on Feb. 1 with Tirico and Taylor, who then step away as Noah Eagle calls the Feb. 15 All-Star Game and Ahmed Fareed leads Feb. 13–15 coverage in a “Legendary February” slate.
  • Today co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin will bolster Olympics duties, with Guthrie hosting the Feb. 6 Opening Ceremony and Melvin handling late night from Feb. 7–9.
