Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino reveals in his new memoir, 'Reality Check: Making the Best of The Situation', his struggle with prescription painkiller addiction during the filming of the MTV reality show 'Jersey Shore'.
He details the various methods he used to smuggle pills into the 'Jersey Shore' house, including crushing them into powder and hiding them inside empty capsules of herbal fat burner pills, and hiding them in the heels of his shoes during filming in Italy.
Sorrentino also used a code word, 'girls', to refer to pills while on the show. If he asked someone how many girls were coming to the club, he was actually asking how many pills he would be receiving.
He admits to consuming 500 pills during the filming of 'Jersey Shore' season 3 and going through an involuntary withdrawal during season 4 in Italy, which led to the infamous incident where he headbutted a concrete wall.
Sorrentino, now eight years sober, served eight months in prison for tax evasion and has since made a commitment to sobriety.
