Mike Flanagan's Stephen King Adaptation 'The Life of Chuck' Announces 21 New Cast Members Including Matthew Lillard and Harvey Guillén
The film, an adaptation of King's 2020 novella "If It Bleeds", navigates the life of Charles “Chuck” Krantz in reverse, starting with his death and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house; production underway in Alabama under SAG-AFTRA interim agreement amid ongoing actors' strike.
- 21 new cast members, including Matthew Lillard and Harvey Guillén, have joined Mike Flanagan's Stephen King adaptation, 'The Life of Chuck', with Tom Hiddleston already signed to portray Charles “Chuck” Krantz.
- 'The Life of Chuck” draws from Stephen King's 2020 novella 'If It Bleeds', and unfolds the life of Chuck Krantz in reverse, starting with his death at 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.
- Mike Flanagan, known for previous Stephen King adaptations such as 2017's 'Gerald’s Game' and 2019's 'Doctor Sleep', is the writer-director and also co-produces the feature with his Intrepid Pictures partner Trevor Macy, and QWGmire’s Molly C. Quinn, Matthew W. Welty and Elan Gale.
- The cast also features Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Jacob Tremblay, and actresses Kate Siegel, Mia Sara, and Q’Orianka Kilcher among others, though their roles have not yet been announced.
- Despite an ongoing actors' strike, production for 'The Life of Chuck' kicked off in Alabama under a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement, which presents a viable model for continuing independent film productions during such work stoppages.
