Mike Burns Joins Sporting Kansas City as Sporting Director

The former New England Revolution GM aims to revitalize the struggling MLS club's roster and development programs.

Burns will oversee player recruitment, roster-building, and development of Sporting KC's professional player pathway.
He replaces Brian Bliss, who served as technical director and VP of player personnel since 2016.
Sporting KC's previous hire for the role, Gavin Wilkinson, was dismissed amid public backlash.
Burns spent 15 years with the New England Revolution, leading them to multiple conference championships and a US Open Cup title.
He will report to Peter Vermes, Sporting KC's chief soccer officer and the longest-tenured coach in MLS history.
