Mikayla Blakes Sets NCAA Freshman Scoring Record with 55 Points in Vanderbilt OT Win

The Vanderbilt guard broke the previous record of 54 points, leading her team to a 98-88 victory over Auburn in overtime.

Mikayla Blakes, a 5-foot-8 Vanderbilt freshman guard, scored 55 points, setting a new NCAA Division I women's freshman record.
Blakes surpassed Elena Delle Donne's 2010 record of 54 points as a redshirt freshman for Delaware.
She shot 15-for-28 from the field, 23-for-24 from the free-throw line, and added five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Blakes scored 11 points in overtime and sent the game to OT by hitting three free throws with less than a second left in regulation.
Vanderbilt's win improves their season record to 19-7 overall and 6-6 in Southeastern Conference play.
