Mikaela Shiffrin Feels ‘Like Myself Again’ After Battling PTSD from Killington Crash

Following intensive therapy, she claimed her 100th and 101st World Cup victories ahead of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics

Overview

  • Shiffrin suffered a puncture wound and severe oblique muscle damage in a Nov. 30, 2024 giant slalom crash at Killington, Vermont, that required surgery.
  • She was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and has worked with a psychologist to address the mental impact of the crash and earlier personal traumas.
  • She returned to World Cup racing in late January 2025 and recorded her 100th career win in February followed by a 101st victory at the March finals.
