  • Seven Ohin Construction workers were invited to the Istana’s National Day open house on August 3, where President Tharman Shanmugaratnam personally thanked them for rescuing a motorist from a Tanjong Katong Road South sinkhole on July 26.
  • Each rescuer received a pen bearing the presidential crest as a keepsake from the President’s Office and a Friends of ACE appreciation coin from the Ministry of Manpower’s assurance group.
  • ItsRainingRaincoats raised more than S$72,000 in public donations following the incident and will disburse the funds to the seven workers at a gathering on August 10.
  • A joint investigation by the Building and Construction Authority and the Land Transport Authority continues to examine the failure of a concrete shaft component that caused the sinkhole at a PUB worksite.
  • The group’s emergency response follows a prior April incident when they helped rescue children from a River Valley shophouse fire, highlighting their ongoing public-spirited contributions.
