Midwife Discovers She Worked with the Woman Who Delivered Her as a Baby

Katie Wintle and Sharon Cooling uncovered their unique connection after six years as colleagues at Singleton Hospital in Swansea.

Katie Wintle, 29, realized her colleague Sharon Cooling had delivered her in 1995 after seeing an old photo during her pregnancy.
The discovery was made while Wintle and her family were reviewing baby pictures, where she recognized Cooling holding her as a newborn.
Cooling, who retired in 2024 after nearly 49 years in the NHS, vividly remembered the birth and had kept a copy of the same photograph.
Wintle, originally a law student, retrained as a midwife and began working with Cooling at Singleton Hospital in 2016.
Both women described the revelation as deeply meaningful, adding a special layer to their professional and personal connection.
