Midea Launches PortaSplit Cool, a €899 Cooling-Only Mobile Split

Overview

• Midea has introduced the PortaSplit Cool as a lower-cost variant that drops the heat-pump function and offers only cooling, dehumidifying and ventilation.
• The unit provides 8,000 BTU/h (2.35 kW) of cooling for rooms up to about 28 m² and keeps an A++ cooling rating with a SEER of 6.1.

• The PortaSplit Cool uses the same tool-free, plug-and-play mobile split design with a flat refrigerant hose so users can install it without drilling or a certified technician, which avoids F‑gas technician rules that apply to permanent splits.
• Buyers should weigh the trade-offs: the Cool is quieter in silent mode (38 dB) and cheaper up front but lacks heating, has lower capacity than the standard PortaSplit, and may cost more to run than a fixed split over long use depending on room sealing and electricity prices.
