Overview

  • Copilot Mode is available as an opt-in experimental feature in Edge on Windows and macOS, replacing the new tab search box with a unified input for chat, search and web navigation.
  • With user permission, Copilot can scan all open tabs to compare information and summarize multi-page research without switching between tabs.
  • The assistant supports natural voice navigation so users can speak commands to find information, open tabs or control browsing hands-free.
  • Microsoft says it will soon enable task automation—such as booking reservations or managing errands—once users grant Copilot access to browser history and credentials.
  • The feature is free for a limited time and operates under Microsoft’s privacy standards, with clear visual cues indicating when Copilot is viewing or listening.
