Microsoft to Discontinue Xbox Avatar Editor in January 2025

The decision follows low user engagement, with refunds offered for recent purchases and support continuing for older Xbox Original Avatars.

The Xbox Avatar Editor app, launched in 2018, will no longer be available starting January 9, 2025, due to low engagement.
Microsoft will issue refunds for avatar-related purchases made between November 1, 2023, and the app's shutdown date.
Players can preserve their current avatars as gamerpics by using the app before its discontinuation.
Older Xbox Original Avatars, introduced during the Xbox 360 era, will remain supported and editable via the Xbox Original Avatars app.
Microsoft recently expanded its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service to include cloud streaming for select owned games, with further updates planned for 2025.
