Overview

  • Microsoft confirmed that enrolling in ESU—whether by paying $30, syncing with OneDrive, or redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points—now requires users to sign in with a Microsoft Account.
  • Each $30 ESU license can be activated on up to ten Windows 10 PCs linked to the same account, replacing the expectation of a separate fee per device.
  • The ESU enrollment portal opened in July and is rolling out gradually via Windows Update to devices running Windows 10 22H2 and later.
  • Consumers retain three sign-up options—one-time purchase, free OneDrive backup sync, or rewards redemption—to receive continued security patches.
  • Enrolled systems will get critical and important Windows 10 updates through the program’s end date on October 13, 2026.
