Overview
- The Release Preview build brings the redesigned menu with All apps on the main page, switchable category or grid views, options to hide recommendations, layout that adapts to screen size, and an optional Phone Link pane.
- Microsoft says features will roll out gradually across supported Windows 11 versions, so not all testers or stable users will see them right away even if deployment begins next month.
- File Explorer adds a recommended files section and new hover commands like Open file location and Ask Copilot, with the recommendations area disabled in the European Economic Area and able to be turned off elsewhere.
- Taskbar updates include a battery icon that changes color for charging and low power states plus a persistent percentage option, and a Share with Copilot button appears on app previews.
- Voice Access gains Fluid Dictation to strip filler words and auto-correct grammar and punctuation, and the build fixes long-standing Windows Update issues including the Update and shut down behavior and failures with error 0x800f0983.
