Microsoft is rolling out an AI text summarization feature in Notepad for Windows 11 Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels.
Users can highlight text, right-click, and select 'Summarize' or use the Ctrl + M shortcut to generate condensed versions of their text.
The summarization tool offers adjustable summary lengths and requires signing in with a Microsoft personal account to access.
Notepad's update also introduces a 'Recent Files' option, enabling quicker access to previously closed documents, with the ability to disable the feature if desired.
These updates are part of a broader push to integrate AI features into Windows 11, complementing last year's 'Rewrite' tool for rephrasing and modifying text.
